BHOPAL Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharati always presents a dilemma for her supporters.
A prime example is her revelations about her alter ego K.N. Govindacharya. Recently, at a book launch, she preached a homily about setting up home with him.
In the presence of former prime minister Chandra Shekhar, Govindacharya, her brother Swami Lodhi and the media, she explained how she was all set to marry the saffron ideologue in 1992 but her brother refused to marry her off to an "unattractive, dark-complexioned fellow".
She added that allegations that Govindacharya stays at the chief minister's house were true. "When I learned that Govindacharya was homeless, I invited him to stay at the chief minister's house," she said.
There was some method in her madness as her revelations put the brakes on all gossip mongering. Life may now run more smoothly for her and Govindacharya, who spends more time in Bhopal than anywhere else these days.
